The Sri Lanka Forum of University Economists (SLFUE) is a network of all Departments and Units of Economics within the Sri Lankan state university system which was initiated in 2012.The Department of Business Economics, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura held the Secretariat of SLFUE for the year 2015. SLFUE conducts quarterly meetings at different universities and the third meeting becomes the annual international conference.
The fourth International Conference of SLFUE-Sri Lanka Economics Research Conference (SLERC) 2015 was hosted by the Department of Business Economics and was held on 20th and 21st of November 2015 successfully. The conference was followed by the 17th meeting of SLFUE which was the final SLFUE meeting organized by the Department of Business Economics. It was held on 25thof February 2016 with the participation of many academics from a number of state universities. The meeting was hosted by the Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya. At this occasion, the Secretariat for 2016 was officially handed over to the University of Kelaniya by the Chairperson for 2015, Dr. (Mrs.) Sumudu Perera, Head of the Department of Business Economics, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The Head of the Department of Economics, University of Kelaniya, Prof. Upali Hettiarachchi is the newly appointedChairperson of SLFUE for the year 2016.
